Question about my clinic...

I go to the same clinic as Christian. They have implemented a few changes over the last few years which I think helps with infection control.

We use to go to one room for weight, vitals etc then go to another room for exam & yet another room for PFTS.

Now everything is done in the same room except the box for PFTs. Spirometry, vitals, weight, paperwork & exam are done in the same room now.

You are "preassigned" a room which has your initials on a white board attached to the door. This gives them time inbetween patients as the board shows who is getting seen by whom & it gets checked off etc.

Sadly although the CFF has these guidelines for accreditation to be obtained by centers....much like things that the Department of Health follows....they cant be everywhere, everyday so we have to "monitor" things ourselves & speak up when needed!

I share some of the same concerns Marci. I have switched clinics in the past 3 years and they both have vastly different protocol, much like the different ones described above. I don't really have too much advice, just the exact same concerns! I have found that when I ask questions, they give me the answers that they think that I want to hear. It seems as though they say, " oh ya we take care of that and clean it....." but I don't see it getting done ever. I have found that in both the public and the doctors/hospitals, the best way for me to stay healthy is to take personal responsibility for cleansing myself. Although others don't seem to care about the details, I do. And if there is one thing that we as CFers know its how to take responsibility for our own well-being.
