Question for anyone...

does anyone have any experiences with medicaid and whether or not they will pay for home antibiotics or if it only covers the hospital meaning you have to take the entire course (2-3 weeks) admitted..? is this a state by state thing or is it pretty much the same all over the states... any information would be appreciated...

i feel like its coming soon when i will need a clean out and am thinking i can't do 2 or more weeks at one time in the hospital... and absolutely hate fighting with insurance but would rather do that than spend all that time in a germ infested hospital...

thanks...

It would vary by state since mediaid (not medicare) is a state imposed/run program. I agree with Mel that if all else fails, your clinic should know or look into it for you.

I do most of my iv's at home and i have medicaid. It am guessing it can be different state to state, but i would think doing the iv's at home would be a way cheaper way to go than a hospitalization. I hope they consider that when they make their decision. What Melissa mentioned about your clinic knowing is a good place to start asking. I hope they allow you to do your iv's at home. I dont like hospitals either.

Donovan,

Back when I was on WV Medicaid they paid for my home IV's and from my dealings at work they still do. They will also pay for a homehealth nurse, that may come in handy for you. If you need anything just gimme a ring...hope you start feeling better, tell Linda and Dr. Moffett I said hi.

Go mounties! , Go pitt! (that is a one time beat Louisville wish only)
