Question for Julie

Hey Julie,
I was on the new CF website (well the updated new page) and I saw your picture. Well here's my question... Either you are really tiny (which perhaps you are because I can only see your head and nothing else in the picture) or Mark is a bigger man. I am saying this because it has been my experience that most of the CF men that I see are smaller....but Mark looks like a typical size person. This is not meant to offend anyone what so ever, I just noticed this and wondered about it.
So any apologies to anyone who finds this offensive....not my intent!!
So I was just wondering how tall and how much he weighs.
I say this because I don't look like I have CF at all (but I'm a woman so it's a little different). I am 5'5" and weigh 150#. (Yeah, I NEED to lose some pounds, let me tell ya!)
Well thanks Julie!

*AND ONCE AGAIN, I'M NOT TRYING TO OFFEND ANYONE MALE OR FEMALE WHO HAS CF*

I have encountered a few CF men that are "buffer" compared to the "average" CF male. It is unusual, but evidently not unheard of. Turns out 2 men from my CF clinic are not average looking whom I just met this year while in the hospital. They were tall too!

No offense taken here, Mark and I were laughing as we read this post.

I am 5'5" and 115 lbs, so I don't think I am too skinny (mark does sometimes) but when that photo was taken last year, I only weighed about 105lbs-ahh stress. Mark is 6ft and his weight ranges between 178-196, as many CFers know-at least those with digestive problems-that weight can fluctuate greatly.

Mark spends a LOT of time eating, a LOT. He eats about 4-6 boost Plus (ensure Plus) shakes a day, Plus 2 Serious Mass shakes (1250 calories in one scoop, but VERY high on the sugar) and then he's always eating other solid food (chicken, steak, sandwich, hamburger, beef....). He usually varies his meals from a shake to a solid and has less digestive problems when he remembers to eat that way. All the protein shakes are already broken down so his body has to work less to properly digest the food. HE ends up with less stomach cramps, indigestion, diarrhea/constipation (varies some days). He also spends every other day in the gym lifting weights. We usually do it together so we can spend time together.

He hasn't always been this "buff" looking. In High school he was 6ft, but only weighed 145. I wasn't until a year after graduation that he started focusing less on cardio (he played year round soccer) and changed to spend about 75% of his workout time on weights. He also completely changed what and how he ate, (varying solids and liquids).

Hope that answers the question <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif" border="0">
