Brad, I respectfully disagree with you. Not in anyway looking to start an argument .. That attitude enables people to not do anything they can for themselves and to stay totally dependent on the government. Virgina is part of the US, SSDI is federal so you too can work and make some money if you wanted to.
I am on oxygen 24/7, have crapolla PFTs, have been intubated more in my life time then can be counted on two hands. On IV antibiotics currently and will be for a long time. Have three diseases that qualify me as disabled, yet I refuse to do nothing.... I will work doing something whenever it is at all possible. I am most grateful our government does not have the same attitude as you and allows for people who want to try to work the chance to work.
I am disabled by many different standards, yet I still work as a nurse one day a week when I am not in the hospital or when I don't have a fever.
I don;t' know if you are on disability or not buy you most certainly can work to some degree. They also have a lot of incentives for people who are trying to see if they can go back to work and give them a safety net to fall back on if they can not do it..
