I had the bronch done yesterday.they said it was no wonder why i couldnt breath. My right side was pretty full of mucus. The doc said he got the majority of it out. I figured after my.breathing would have came right back. Ive had this going on for weeks an ive basically been on the couch for prob 3wks an lost 15 pounds.then after a week on ivs they decided to bronch yesterday. The doc described it as a jump start for my right side. Have any of u gone through this before??? If so how long did it take to build them back up??? Im better than i was, still not at 100 ethier. Any help would be great.

Hi Matt,

Sorry you are having a rough time.

I have only had a couple bronchs. I remember waking up and actually feeling MORE congested for the first day or two. And then I started to feel better. They said this was normal, and also said that it is normal to cough up blood streaked sputum after a bronch. It just stirs up a lot of stuff. Also, with mine they did a "lavage" or wash, where they squirt saline around in there to help clear out the mucus. They suck it back out, but a little can remain.

I'm hoping that in a day or two you will be feeling a little better. As far as the IVs go, I'd give it at least another week. It used to take only 2 weeks of IVs for me to rebound, but it has taken 3 weeks a few times, and last time I was on IVs for 4 weeks. So I wouldn't be feeling terribly worried if after a week of IVs you're not feeling 100% yet. Also, sometimes I don't really start to feel 100% until after stopping the IVs. They can drain you!

Hope this helps at all! Let me know if I can answer anything else! Hope you are feeling better soon!

Take Care,

Thanks, im just hoping they didnt screw my lung up bc ive been in an out for a total of 3 months of the same probs. I had no infections b4 an the hospital isnt a cf care. Ive been trying to get them to do the bronch back then bc i told them then,i could feel like a blockage but until now they wouldnt even do a ct or scope. Today the doc admitted that this was probably my problem the entire past 3 months bc they couldnt figure why i was this way.
