The first year, my montage had GREAT results. It absolutely had an impact on our amount raised. It was forwarded all over the place, and the CFF in Madison even forwarded it to all of it's members. We got several donations from people we do not know in other states. Most importatly, it was the impetus for the major fundraiser event that we do annually now (Improv comedy show and silent auction). One of our (now)major sponsors happened to get the link e-mailed to him on the day his son was born, healthy. He made us his pet project.
The second year was not so great. Only about 500 views, and not more that 10 or 12 donations as a result of the e-mail. However, we showed the DVD of the montage at the fundraiser and it had a great impact. I show it at intermission and tell people to go and up their silent auction bids after watching it. hee hee.
The other way that I use it is to show it at my school. The older kids are very moved by it and many of them save thier change for CFF, hold bake sales, do research projects on CF - and not a day goes by that I am not hasked how Emily is.
I will probably always do a montage. Yes, they are time consuming, but, just today I sat and watched all three. They are a great reflection of what life has been like, each year of Emily's life. And, it certainly doesn't hurt the fundraising, either.
