If I were to do PGD (my one son has CF), the remaining fertilized eggs that otherwise get "thrown away", can they be donated to somewhere that can use them for further CF research (the ones that have CF)? Is it even possible to use embryos for this research?

Yes, you can do something called PGD where they check to see if embryos have CF before implanting. The pregnancy board would be a good place to check for info about it. I don't know about CF specific research, but I know that embryos can be donated for research or for a couple that cannot conceive.

The procedure is called PGD, or preimplantation genetic diagnosis. It is where they genetically screen your embryos for a disease (like CF) and choose the embryos without it.

I'm not sure if you can donate the embryos that are not used, but I would check with the reproductive lab when you go.
