I have it BAD too. I am on nexium 40mg twice a day, and ranitidine 300mg at bedtime. I have had multiple scopes done and I have ulcers. The meds help though. I also clear my throat constantly, it drives my husband nuts, but I think it's from my sinuses.

I have reflux too to some degree because I have delayed gastric emptying. Sometimes my gall bladder acts up too which can contribute to the problem. For those who are on high dose ibuprofen for inflammation control, talk to your doctor about getting something to reduce the acid in your stomach. The ibuprofen can eat away at your stomach lining. Something like Prilosec helps. Another important reason for getting the acid under control is because if there's too much acid in the wrong part of of digestive system, it can interfere with the effectiveness of our enzymes.

I too have severe GERD, diagnosed with an upper endoscopy. If I bend over, I feel burning and sometimes the reflux reaches my throat. I am on Nexium 40mg, tums too on occassion. Awhile back, the docs were considering a procedure called Nissen fundoplication but scratched that once my respiratory status went to hell. I suspected reflux when tasted acid in my mouth, believe it or not, I didn't get alot of heartburn. Many meds also aggrevate mine...so many of the antibiotics do, especially the cyclines such as Minocycline and doxy as well as Zosyn. That one is TERRIBLE! Of course the NSAID's will chew you up too if you have reflux. I too hope that you find relief and answers...hugs, Jenn

ladybug, besides the short of breath my son is your clone. He to is on prevacid everday . He has sinus that look like CF too according to CF docs. He has recently tested negative for common 70 genes. I am however at his next appointment going to request more genetic tests is they do not mention it . He has had problems exercising for the past 5 years. He is 18 and has had sweat tests 64,57 and 55 at CF Center. I have read the entries on this topic and it makes me more determined to get answers. Thanks!!
