Questions about Enzymes

Hi there! My son, Briceton, started on enzymes at two weeks of age. He is now 18 months old and takes 6 enzymes with all meals and snacks. Currently he is taking 3 Creon5 and 3 Pancrecarb MS4.

We started off just opening the capsules and pouring them down his mouth before each feed. Then at the age of about 16 months he started to show interest in swallowing them himself. We started off just letting him swallow 1-2 Creon 5 (as they are much smaller) on his own and poured the rest in his mouth. Now at 18 months he swallows all 6 on his own with his meals-approx. 42 pills a day! We showed the staff a few weeks back at clinic how well he takes his enzymes and they got the biggest kick out of it.......now, I can't imagine what the heck people think I'm giving my son when out to eat.....Ha I can only imagine!

My son is almost 18mo old now. He was dx at 8 days old and immediately put on Creon 5 (at the time of dx he was put on 1 capsule, broken open into applesauce, before each meal). Snice then he's gained weight and grown perfectly, and with that has come an increase in the pills. Now he takes 4 Creon 5 before each meal, still broken open in apple sauce. He wants to just tame the pills but I don't trust that he won't bite them open yet, yuck... lol

Stool tests performed that day showed that he has severe pancreatic insufficiency already. He was started on 1 Creon5 per 4 oz of formula... but started to get greasy stools again about a month ago... so they doubled up on his dosing.
