Sorry Kylie. I didnt see your question. They are not Piccs, I have had those before. I believe IV lines are considered peripheral. It's not really an IV line as far as Intravenously. A port is put in only by a surgeon. The port has a reservoir with a catheter that goes into the heart. I might not be explaining it very well. It says: "The most commonly seen type of CVC (Central Venous Catheter) is a Totally Implanted Device (TID) such as the Port-A-Cath or Infus-A-Port. This CVC consist of a small reservoir that is totally implanted under the skin. When it is not being used, it has no tubing on the outside of the skin, does not need a dressing, and has lower risk of becoming infected..."
