1. FEV1 pre and during?
Baseline around 53% pre-preg. I've gotten as low as 38% during, but that is not unusual for me when I get sick. After 3 weeks of IV's I was back up to 50% and I have maintained that so far.
2. FVC pre and during?
I never pay much attention to FVC, I think it is in the 60's.
3. Pancreatic sufficient pre?
No, but I've never had any big stomach issues either.
4. CFRD pre?
No.
5. Age when got pregnant?
24, 25 now.
6. C-section or vaginal birth?
Haven't given birth yet, but I am planning and hoping for a vaginal birth.
7. Any sort of "morning" sickness?
I was very queasy and hated food from weeks 9-16. I threw up on a regular basis, but it was always from coughing. Ended up losing about 10 lbs in 1st tri, all of which I've gained back plus a few extra (I'm 27 weeks now).
8. How does your CF clinic feel about CFers getting pregnant? Are there certain health criteria they suggest you meet, etc.?
My doctor brought up me having children after I got married, 2.5 years ago. I told her I was hoping to have one, and when we were ready to start trying I had a long talk with her about it. She said that I numbers are actually a bit lower than she likes to see for a pregnant CFer, but b/c they are pretty stable and I have an excellent support system that she thought I would be fine. I also quit working so I can focus only on my health and the baby. She immediately made an appt for DH to get genetic testing (we were not going to try if he was a carrier) and I had a couple of visits with the CF nutritionist.
We discussed meds that I could/could not use and she feels very strongly about my mom coming to live with me for a few weeks after the baby is born to help take care of me. Other than that, I am just going to appts more frequently (about once a month after I entered my 2nd tri). My high risk OB is at the same hospital and both my CF clinic and my OB have had a lot of experience with CF pregnant patients, so I feel like I'm in good hands.
