Don't ask - TELL your doctor (firmly but nicely) that you want her tested for cystic fibrosis. If your doctor refuses, get another pediatrician. You might have better luck with a GI specialist (your doctor might be willing to make that referral).
We INSISTED on having our son tested when he turned 3. The doctor did NOT want to do it. He thought he looked too healthy. 2 days later, he was diagnosed.
As devastating as the news was, we were relieved to start treating him. He started growing and felt so much better. His main issues were GI at the time. Absolutely no lung signs (although x-rays do show lung involvement).
Good luck!

It turns out I actually didn't even have to ask. The pedi looked Kassie over, said she was wheezing and crackling, did this nose swab that came back saying RSV, and then asked me if she had ever been tested for CF. I said no, she hadnt been. The pedi called Texas childrens and we go in friday morning to be tested.
Thank you everyone for your replies and Jazzy'smom, thanks for chatting with me last night. I know I drowned you in a million questions, thanks for your patience!

Good news! Her tests came back negative at 24 left leg and 26 right leg <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif" border="0"> We are to follow up with our pedi this week to see if she wants to do anymore tests to figure out why she is always sick.
