Although I don't have CF, my son does, every time he gets sick I
feel the same way. Just know you're not the only one going through
it, there's a lot of people dealing with the same thing. There's
always someone here that understands how you're feeling and that
can give you support.<img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif" border="0">

I think its perfectly normal to feel this way when you are dealing with what we have to deal with. I think these feelings just come with the territory of a chronic illness. I have these feelings a lot too, it really does help to talk to someone if you think thats something you might want to do tell your CF doc. to help you find someone. There is some good medicine out there that can help with it.

on more positive things like getting back home and mixing with
friends and family. and look 4ward to a future with better

on the real i aint tryin to be mean but u should never feel bad for
yourself. suck it up and stop complaining. the one thing we cfers
have in this world is knowing we will be okay the second we doubt
ourselves and our strength. then we have nothing and we need to
help ourselves it doesnt matter what anyone else says the only
thing that really matters is what u believe. so yeah keep your head
up but u have to know that u are strong enough to make it through
every obstacle put in your path.

I understand where you are coming from, but my problem is not usually fear of death. When I am really sick I get more Angry then I do scared. Only one time did I truly became scared & that was in 1/2000 when I was the sickest I had been in my life up until then. My daughter was 1 1/2 years old, I had to stop working & for the first time I completely lost control of life & CF seemed to be taking over. Now I have my bad times, but get more angry that I cant always keep a handle on it. Othertimes I just go with the flow. Fear of death is on the bottom of my list!

hello dani when I was younger mid-late teens I was scared about
death. First off when I was real young I can barely remember the Dr
telling me that the average lifespan was 18 years old..  so i
grew up knowing when I hit 18 I was going to die.  Well 18
came and went.  I am not really afraid of death anymore.
I have come to learn when my time is up it will be done

Hey Dani,

I'm now 20yrs old (male) and i'm from Ireland (yeah i'm irish). I've only briefly met a few other people with CF during my life and that was in hospital. So basically i've had to go through this on my own. Of course i have the best parents in the WORLD, but i would never talk to them about my fear of death cause it would be too upsetting for them and me!

I know what i'm going to say is very obvious, but i find that people often need to be reminded!

Death is normal and EVERYONE is going to die at some stage. People with CF may die sooner than other people but NOT ALWAYS. What people like us need to do is put what may happen to one side of our minds and then decide how you want to enjoy the life that is given to us.

If your ever feeling afraid or depressed about CF then just think how lucky we are in so many ways!! I sure know that i'd rather have CF than be blind or unable to walk, or missing an arm or leg. These things are all obvious when u see a person, but with CF we can hide it (but not always).

When i was younger i used to think about it more and it used to depress me and made me a bit afraid. But every person in the world who ever spends any time thinking about death is going to feel a bit afraid.

I hope this helps.

Best Wishes
