Random Question

I have a dumb random question and don't want to wait until my ask appointment to ask the doctor (I'll probably forget by then anyway) so hopefully someone here knows the answer!
My mom and I were just arguing about Gravol. I recently went on vacationto Australia and took Gravol to help me sleep through the long flights. She FREAKED out saying that my CF doctor as a child told her that I was to NEVER take Gravol because it's very bad for CF patients. She seems to remember them saying it turns the mucous in your lungs into cement. I did a quick google search and couldn't find anything. Has anyone ever heard anything similar?? I'm dying to prove her wrong here!

Gravol contains about 27mg of diphenhydramine (benadryl here in the States). Diphenhydramine is an anticholinergic and anticolinergics have a drying effect in the body. The result is that CF docs tend to shy away from anticholinergic therapy because it only dries mucus out and makes it harder to clear.

For infrequent use (flights and stuff) you would be better off with a short acting medication like Zolpidem Tartrate. It's highly addictive with long-term use, but less than a week should not be a problem.
