My 2 1/2yr. old daughter Chelsea has been coughing for 8months. With numerous medication and a trip to hospital, I started to believe that she would cough forever. We even thought she may have to go into hospital for christmas. Last week she Just stopped coughing and her chest sounded soo clear. She hasn't started coughing again and is a vibrant as ever. I am the happiest I have ever been. CF has made us realise that we should make the most of every moment. We always try to be positive because Chelsea is our princess and through everything she is always happy.

I think that the adult section tends to be more negative because we are the ones who have this disease and are more realistic/ possibly negative about it. That is why I like this forum. When I want to share with others how I really feel then I go to the adults section, when i want more upbeat readings I go to families. I think it is a good balance

I totally agree, there are times where these posts are terribly depressing and I've stopped reading or responding. I know CF can be tough but I also know our little ones are starting on a good foot with all the news meds.

Our two year old Aidan is doing amazing! His only issue is Sinus so far. We also do the NeilMed rinses once daily since Aidan's sinus surgery. We love them!

He is beautiful. spirited, friendly. an overall amazing little kid. He is a Double Delta and is currently at the top of the charts for height and weight. He looks and is incredibly healthy! He actually loves to wear the VEST as well. He wears it one hour every day for prevention and does great with it.

I guess I'm superstitious. I feel that if I get to comfortable, complacent, that something bad will happen. If someone mentions that DS looks good or appears to be doing good -- I knock wood (or my head).

I will say that DS is so funny, so busy and such a joy to be around. Makes us laugh every day, several times a day.

Thanks to all for responding....I love to read the positive posts!

Here is one....Lora (my wife) and I have been beside ourselves with anxiety for 5 years now about the Monkey going to school. (We live in the Michigan snow belt, and to be sure, cold/flu season is considerable here). Anyhow, the 'ol Monkey has made it this far with not even a chest cold. I'm sure will rear it's ugly head in the coming months, but day by day, it's been good.

His teacher is extremely diligent with hand washing for all the kids in the classroom because we pleaded with her to do so. She even posted on this site asking for recommendations on teaching a CF child and she got a huge bunch of responses!

OK, back to work, but thanks again for the positivity! It inspires me, for sure....keep it flowing!

I remember that wonderful teacher posting on here!! You guys are lucky she cares so much. We home educate my oldest and plan to with Ben. We are rarely home though and do alot with others so we still do tons of hand washing and purelle. I do let people know to please give their kids a little extra time if still sick if events are planned and people really do care. I think we each secretly wish we could put our kids in that little glass castle until they are older, but we just can't. They have to play and explore the world and that means the world of germs too. I think now that I finally see how strong he is I feel more confident that he will go through things like everyone else. The first year old like I was a mess with the germ thing!! Every cough at the grocery would send shivers up my spine ;-)

We like Elderberry syrup doing respiratory season for prevention against flu It is natural and is well researched.

Great thread! Thanks!

I have found that cf has changed me in many postive ways. I do not stress about the little things nearly as much as I used to. I am much more open and honest with poeple than I used to be - particularly when I think they are being unreasonable. Life is just to short to be bothered by things like that. I am much more receptive to help and I'm much more forgiving of myself. In fact, barring the daily period of DEEP sadness that I feel because of the uncertainty of Emily's future, I would say that I am a much happier person than I was fourteen months ago.

Another positve...Evening pt is done after Emily is asleep. This means that whichever of us does the pt gets to sit in the rocker with her, and control the remote!!!!! (Unfortunatley, this is rarely me, since I usually tackle bedtime with our 4 year old).

She usually falls asleep during pt, no matter what time we do it. When I am the one giving it to her, I find that I sit for quite a while after the last shot of Flovent and just hold her. I rarely did this with Isabelle. As soon as she was asleep I was off to clean or cook or whatever. All of that waits, now. I treasure every moment with that little girl, and with her sister, too.
