I just had a clinic appointment and my doctor denied me the eFlow...he was adamant. His concern stemmed from the lack of studies proving the safety of tobra (not Tobi) when formulated by compound pharmacies for inhalation through the eFlow. This also has to do with the pre-mixed colistin scare, which is/was also mixed by compound pharmacies (according to my understanding). However...
Anybody remember what we did BEFORE Tobi came out?! Because I mixed my own Tobramycin for inhalation just like I do now with the colistin. And I also seem to remember having some trouble getting the Tobi approved by my insurance when it first came out because it was more expensive and there already existed a means for inhaling tobramycin. It seems odd to me now that we can't just go back to the old way and mix our own for use in the eFLow.
Is my memory totally off here??
