Rebekah's visit

Karla,
The blowing games are to check her lung capacity, however, when she coughs while doing them, then they can actually hear how bad it is. Her doc said she ranged from 70 - 80 % on her last visit. He did hear her cough when he came in to our room so he sent her for the x-ray. After seeing the results, he said he wanted her back on the 21st for another x-ray. We have a throat culture every time we're there and once again, she cultured positive for MRSA. This is still after she got put on a 2 week regimine of Bactrim on June 4th, and then a 2 week regimine of Zyvox. She is on Zyvox yet again. The 1st 2 times she had MRSA, the Zyvox cleared her up quickly, but this time we didn't have the same luck. Just wondering if she is becoming resistant to the Zyvox.

Liza,
I may have to ask her doc about the CT scan. I don't remember when her last visit was that she HASN'T gotten an x-ray. I'm so proud of her, but it's sad to know that my 5 year old has known for the last year or so just how to stand when she goes for an x-ray.

Hey Robin,
Believe me I know how sad things can get ,,and how smart these little ones are !!!! When Makailyn was 2 1/2 she could sterile handwash better than a doctor...When you are repeating her meds to a nurse or something and you might be going to slow ,she will say them faster than you and tell nurse's how some are spelled ,,like xopenex,,,,and she is on a very agressive regimen...
She just turned 8 a couple of weeks ago,,and she seems way above her years...She's so little,(she hates anyone telling her she's little),but so smart ,,,especially about this horrible disease!!!
Makailyn is resitant to Ciprofloxin,,and some other stuff,, but they will still give her Ciprofloxin when she does Tobi. The doctor said it being combined causes a synergy effect (not sure if I spelled that right)..I didn't know it for a couple of years until one day I was looking at her culture results (instead of them just tellin me,the results).I was upset that they didn't tell me she had been resitant to some meds..So now I get a copy of every test that is done...

Your clinic sounds pretty good. They started doing lung function's test on Makailyn at about 4 1/2yrs old. They would stick her in a big clear closed up box, put a clip on her nose and have her blow her little breath out as hard as she could. And that's how her lung capacity is still done.. I think it's great that your clinic takes the time to do games for thier blowing....

Makailyn has also had 2 chest x-rays at 2 different places, with about 4 differnt diagnois with them (they were done approx 2 weeks apart)..This is why I'm going for the CT on the next appt...

I will be praying for you and your little one...Sometimes I wonder if God hears me,,,,, but I keep praying anyways..My heart goes out to you ,,,I don't think the hurt ever goes away....It certainly hasn't for me !

this is Rocky taking her socks off,,, he's a good helper
