I recently found out I am pregnant and I have some questions if anyone can help me. First do I continue to use my vest. Should I turn down the frequnecies. My doctors don't seem too sure about how long I should continue it or if I should do something else.

Next is medications. What medication changes need to be made. I know my doctor is stopping my pulmozyme and starting hypertonic solution. Did anyone else make this change? Did I work as well?

My husband and I are very excited and nervous at the same time I hope someone can give me some insight as to what to do next.

Congrats!

I have heard that many people use the "chest vest" instead of the full vest when they are pregnant. My husband just "beat" me when I was pregnant, becauses I didn't even know that the chest vest was available *grumble*.

Also, why did your doctor take you off Pulmozyme? I took it my entire pregnancy. HS wasn't being used at my clinic when I was pregnant- I wish it had been since I like it so much now , and I think the two together would have been great.

my doctor told me to use my vest for as long as i can fit into my vest. she said it will just give the baby a little ride, but it's not going to hurt the little one. my doc is keeping me on my pulmozyme the entire time, they have even talked about me doing it twice a day just for an added boost since i'm not on any inhaled antibiotics. as far as like the inhaled antibiotics my cf doc's aren't really letting me do anything. they wanted me to do inhaled tobi, but i don't tolerate it. so i can't help you out there sorry! good luck though!!

Hi! Congrats! When are you due? As for medications I agree with the others who said pulmozyme is probably safe - it is a pregnancy category B drug. I am 21 weeks and still using my vest. My LO is fine - just had an ultasound 2 weeks ago and can feel her moving every day. Here are the medications I use: Nexium 20mg, ADVAIR 500/50, Spiriva, Zithromax 250mg MWF, and my albuterol inhaler as needed. I also do the hypertonic saline while I do my vest (supposed to be twice a day but lately it has been once a day).

If you have asthma be aware that pregnancy can make it worse. 1/3 of pregnant women w/ asthma will get worse, 1/3 will get better and 1/3 will stay the same. I am one of the unlucky women who get way worse with pregnancy.

Congrats again!
