Remember when i was a dizzy blonde ?

Well here we go for round two. Once again i have the same dizziness i had for almost 2 and a half months last year. But i am thinking i found the culprit.
Last time i had this dizziness was about a week after i had been off of iv Tobramycin. Sure enough i had been on Tobramycin for a month this time while i was sick and after a few days of stopping it, i'm dizzy again.
I am guessing we have used Tobramycin too many times in the past and it is showing some not so nice side effects. I never had a problem with it affecting my hearing , but in the past two years any time they put me on it ,i notice some decreased hearing. It goes back to normal after a while of being off of it. But these last two times alone with the decreased hearing i am getting dizziness. The feeling is like.....Remember when you were a child and would spin around and around trying to get dizzy and then stop, and you are left feeling sooooo loopy....lol
Thats exactly how i feel all the time. What an annoyance. I didnt want to go on Tobramycin but i was so sick and it seemed like the only thing that would help, so i agreed to go on it.
I sure hope it wont be like this every time i have to use it, but i have a feeling it will.

Has anyone else experienced this odd side effect from Tobramycin?

YES.
In fact, my first episode was about a month ago!

It happened about a week after the Tobra was finished.
I woke up really groggy and dizzy. It faded away during the day. And it only happened that one time.

I think we've found the cause!

I dont know the threads but there is some reading that was interesting about IV's especially tobra, decreasing magnesium levels, and hearing loss. Now whenever on abx I take an extra magnesium supplement and then finish out the month on it just as a precaution, cant hurt and might help, the reading was very interesting.

The reason I mention it is that the studies I was reading were addressing cumulative effect just as you mentioned.
