Remembering......

Since we dont have a seperate section to remember people yet I thought I would start a topic. It is the holiday time & we all know that we have lost a few people this year. Some we knew & some we knew of. I dont want to step on anyones toes by mentioning names without permission, but I am sure that the 2 I will start with there will be no problem. Of course we have Allan a/k/a WinAce who had become well known on the board & Ry who I never had the pleasure of getting to know personally, but feel like I know him from my chats with Allie. My love & thoughts are with Jessica & Allie along with their families as they try to get thru the holiday season with grace & pride knowing they had the honor of having these men in their lives. If there are others that would like to share names of fellow CFers or anyone that they lost, please feel free. I truly believe in keeping memories alive especially during the holidays when it can be a difficult time!

The two people that immeidately come to mind are the same two you mentioned: Allan and Ry. I, like you and the rest of us, didn't know Ry. But I talk to Allie all the time and I feel like I know him a little bit. Allan I only knew for a short period of time, but I still knew him, and I still do talk to Jess from time to time.

The only one other than those two that I can think of to include would be Ami Chester. She was one of my best CF friends when I was a kid, and she died in 01. She was only 22, and I believe she died waiting for a tx that never came.

I never knew the 2 people that you mentioned (though I've since read some of winace's posts and he sounds like an awesome guy!) but I would like to let Allie and Jess know that my thoughts are with them.

I would also like to remember my friend Julie, who passed away July this year and the many before her. A special thought goes out to one of my best friends ever, Ben, who passed away 4 years ago and would be 23 this December. I still think about you and miss you every day.

Anybody else who has lost a loved one, my thoughts and my love are with you this Christmas.

Of course, at this time of year, I'm thinking of Ry a lot. But it helps to know other people are too.

And I'm thinking of Allan, as he was the first person I really met on this board. He semed a fantastic guy and was a horrible loss to this board.

Also, Gail's daughter Traci, I know she's deeply missed this time of year.

Thanks all for thinking of Ry and I this time of year, I'll be thinking of you all and hope you have a happy Christmas.

Well in addition to my fellow CFers I miss my Dad who passed away 20 years ago. He had a "bad" sense of humour, but got a kick out of himself anyway...LOL. My oldest nephew who was killed in a drunk driving accident 8 years ago & my friend who died of cancer at 38 & left behind a beautiful little girl. Sadly there are so many people to mention that you could get tired of reading it. Let me just sum it up by saying toooooooo many............they will all be missed!

Thank you Gail for remembering Matt, just in case I never saw these messages, that was very thoughtful of you.

This is mine and Gail's first Christmas without our precious Matt and Traci, what a difficult time this is. I know that each of them, is going to be there with us on Christmas day watching over us though.

To many lost, to young, to soon.

Merry Christmas my sweet angel, I love you Matt

I dont see how Winace was infamous on these boards, I think he was well respected by most people here and didn't do anything wrong...Maybe it was a mispelling or something but thats just my opinion..

I owe an apology. When I used the word infamous I had no idea that the true meaning of it was negative. I ??? why you posted a response like you did so I looked up the word in the dictionary & felt very foolish that I tried to be respectful & thoughtful in postig the original message only to find out that I called him "disgraceful". I highly respected him & meant that he was well known for his poetry, his comments, his help, his struggles, but most of all his words in general. I changed the wording in the original post so that other people will not think the same thing, but I wanted to acknowledge your concern & correct my error. Thank you!

As a note, infamous and famous can be mistaken as the same meaning, I'm sure Allie can vouch for that.

And, speaking of Allie; her and her husband, Ry are also in my thoughts. Also, having to talk with Allie, (esp. hearing about Ry), I feel I'm getting to know him, too.

For Allan, I hoped to have the chance to know WinAce much better, but with his passing, came a big loss.

I've also had gone through the loss of family, relatives, and even had to go to three funerals this year, including my wife, Yuka's Father's funeral, when Cancer had taken control of his pancreas.

Though the funerals happened around holidays, I'm glad it wasn't some omen that one of my parents wasn't taken away...*knock on wood*...their health is "grey area" as it is.

Best Wishes for a Happy New Year!

Since this was the first Christmas without my son, Matt, I wanted to be able to do something that would make things a little easier on the family to be able to get through this difficult time. I was not going to put up any decorations this year until I came up with the idea of Matt's special tree. I asked all of Matt's friends and family to make or buy a special ornament that pertained to their friendship between one another. The response was overwhelming and I now have this wonderful tree full of wonderful memories of Matt.

I don't think that I will be putting these ornaments away either, they're just to precious to get out once a year, so I think I am going to look for a nice glass cabinet to display them in so they can be looked at all year long.

My hearts go out to all of you who have lost a loved one this year. My Dad died from CF this year - he was 68. He had a 43 year career and an 7 year retirement. He and my Mom would have been married 43 years last month. He was a wonderful father to my brother and me. He also was a fantastic grandpa to a very lucky boy and girl. He was one of the good guys and we miss him immensely. He wanted his accomplishments and longevity to be a source of hope and inspiration for other families living with CF.

Mary, your dads memory will live for ever in your mind I know. I personally am inspired and encoraged by his age 68, that was awesome!!!! My son is 3 and i cringe at the thought of his future and how long i will have him here on earth with me. Your dad has already touched many lives by just his age 68, that in itself is encourging!!! My thoughts & prayers are w/ you & your family. Leah~mommy to Reece w/ cf

My heart goes out to those of you that have lost loved ones <img src="i/expressions/brokenheart.gif" border="0">

I lost my best friend, Elise, almost 4 years ago this coming January 8. She was just 38 and was killed by a drunk driver while she was getting out of her car to meet with a patient of hers. She was a nurse and was making a home visit. She left behind 3 beautiful children. Her middle child, Michael, served with the marines in Iraq. We got him back, minus an eye. He was disabling an enemy vehicle and the tire exploded. The tire iron he was using, hit him in the side of the head. He is an amazing young man and I am sure his mother is looking down on him, keeping him safe. I miss her, so much. She was a very special lady.

Take care everyone. Keep one another close...and safe.

I would like to add my daughter Elizabeth to this list. I lost her to CF on October 23, 2004. If anyone is interested Glass Dimentions has a memory candle that is really nice. I bought one for my Mom for Christmas and they engrave in the glass In Loving Memory of and their name and there date of birth and date of passing. My Mom really loves it .
