I agree with Sevenstars. Go for the pulse-ox first. I just got one and though I am obsessed with my O2 stats now, I know I will calm down after the intial thrill of having it is gone. Knowing your PFT's is good but I just think that being able to check them ALL the time kind of takes the "fun" out of it. Though having it before an appt would come in handy instead of a shock when you go. Hmm I am all over the board with this sorry! haha!

I have an Airlite Asthma Check thing that checks peak flow. I do it a few times a day to see how I am. I got it from the hospital and everytime I go in they give me a new one! It just checks to see if you are expelling the same amount of air each time you use it. It is a good way to check and see when you are at your lowest and highest.

I have that exact model and it was a HUGE disappointment. It says it measures FEV1 and Peak Flow, but mostly it's just peak flow. The FEV1 number only flashes across the screen for a split second (easy to miss) and if you miss it there's no way to go back and get it.

My other complaint with that product is that I see it has the potential to ruin my PFT technique.

Don't bother with it. I'm sorry I did.

I've got asthma as well as CF and LOVE my microlife. I'm sitting here with mine and I have to say you can go back and look at your FEV1...the scroll button, when your PEF comes up you press the scroll button again and FEV1 comes up.

But yeah I LOVE mine. I've had a Piko, a Koko peak pro (which measures more than the mircolife and PIKO but is way more expensive) and an Airwatch. I like the Microlife best and for me its a really good tool and helps me sometimes determine if a problem is CF related or asthma related.

I also have a pulse ox and its great but it doesn't replace the micro life
