You're probably right that this person has found a site related to battens or similar disorders and forgotten about us completely, but that isn't the point. Look at it like this: Someone comes banging on your front door one day. You open it and a person says in a total panic "My kid just got hit by a car out here, I need help." Then all you do is hand them a phone and shut the door.

This is basically what happened here. Sure, the link was probably helpful, as the phone would be. But what the mom of the kid in the street needs just as much is someone to give support and reasurrance until help comes. I'm sure the original poster could have used some sympathy and understanding. After all most of us know what its like to lose a loved one due to any number of illnesses and it still hurts the same.

well, I just have to interject and say that I related to what kyle said initially (the shees) because if you have been on this website long enough people come here asking all sorts of questions about random crap and things, and they have absolutely NOTHING to do with CF, it's almost offensive sometimes too because it takes away from the real purpose of this site. And I don't know about you but when I log on and use this I see that it says 'cysticfibrosis.com' in the top left hand corner in big blue letters. I think it would have been more rude for nobody to post anything to the initial poster, and least Kyle gave them the time of day and a link to battens disease. NOBODY else, including myself, have bothered to do any more than that for this person. And good lord, she just said shees. I have heard much worse on this site.

Second of all, the initial poster didnt elaborate on exactly why they choose to come to this site. The first poster after the initial person did say they didn't understand exactly why the person came to this site and maybe they can elaborate. They never did come back to do so, and that was before kyle's post.

If someone comes to this site, just wanting to talk about themselves or someone they know with a disease, that isn't CF, I have no problem talking to them and just trying to relate as another person. But it really behooves that person to say why they came to this site so we can all be able to help them. I, as kyle already did would point them in the right direction as well because some people don't do too well with computers and the interenet.

Let's all give Kyle a break, she did point the person in the right direction and just posted her opinion that she couldn't relate to what the person had posted. I think everyone who has jumped down her back ought to be ashamed of themselves.

dont worry mockingbird. they are only having a cow because its me, im gonna huff and puff and blow your house down. people are so quick to judge me, yet im seeing alot of double standards here. ive seen so many people on here tell others to outright get lost when they have come to the wrong place, even with more legitimate questions than this one. ive lost count the amount of times people have said on this board "i hate it when someone comes up to me and says 'i had tummy ache when i was 5 so i can relate to cf' thats so annoying". so why do these people think that the mother wants us doing the same to her? she would probably think you are just as annoying as those people who come on saying whats typed above.

besides, i knew from the start that there is a high chance that the person is just trolling. why else would i type sheesh in the first place? oh thats right because im a large furry animal that tries to eat little piggies and i lurve to insult people. yes, people do come onto this site to troll, because they know there are so many people on this board that fall for it, like you guys. oh well, at least i didnt resort to name calling and presumptuous behaviour like some. as far as im concerned this thread is over. you have all shown everyone that you are more than happy to argue rather than help. lets just hope the joke isnt on you.

WELL, you have all succeeded in making this person feel VERY unwelcome!!!! I am sure he/she will NEVER come back again (as most of you have pointed out that they should not....shame on you!) and will probably (once again) think that CFers are stubborn, unwelcome brats! I certainly hope that when my daughter grows up that she is much more mature than you are all!<img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-frown.gif" border="0"><img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-blush.gif" border="0">

Maybe the original poster doesn't speak English well, maybe it's not their first language and they got mixed up, who knows. But hopefully they have found the info they needed on the appropriate site.

this is cracking me up...poor kylie..this certainly doesn't deserve 2 pages of discussion..and her post actually made me look up what battens disease was. so, i learned something..who knew..anyway, yes i feel bad for the mother but this really isn't the right place for her. so everyone who said kylie was "nasty, rude ect." i don't know where the hell you live where sunshine comes out of everyones a** but her post was perfectly acceptable. but feel free to go on for another 2 pages...
