I have the pressurized ball thingies, so I can't slow them down, but I have to go back Monday to draw my peak & troth levels, so I'm gonna ask the doctor about that. Although my MRSA is sensitive to bactrium, it doesn't work as well as it used to. I'll see if there's anything they can do for me about taking the Vanco. I guess I would probably need an IV pump, but I don't know how to go about getting one or if insurance pays for it.

Sara,
I'm sorry to hear about your first Picc experience being so crummy. I hate piccs!! I usually have to have a couple of them, and it never fails that I get blood clots, so I never do home IV's. (plus my first picc ever was a home picc and it busted on me! But thats a RARE occurance) My insurance paid for my picc home stuff, but I was on an awesome program when I was younger and qualified. With the insurance I have now-a-days I don't think it would be that way. But for future reference the more relaxed you are the better your picc goes in and your, I guess they say, you are more apt. to not have blood clots. So every time I get a picc they give me something like zyanax (sp?) or whatever and it seems to help me relax and let them get it done. (I still always get clots though!) Not sure if you freak out like I do but if you do you can ask for something to help you. (And I'm totally not a drug pusher) I've never been on that drug your talking about that you had the allergic reaction to. So can't help there, but looks like the other gals covered it for ya!
