RSV shot or NOT

The way I understand it, all kids will get RSV sooner or later. The idea of the synagis shots is to push it toward the "later" end of the timeline for kids at higher risk of suffering badly when they get RSV. Maybe your childs CF doctor could give you an opinion about whether Zeke seems strong/healthy enough to endure a bout of RSV this winter without any worse consequences than a nasty cold (which synagis won't do anything to prevent).

That's basically what we were told, too. That all kids eventually get RSV, the key is to delay it. A coworker's non-cfer grandchild got it at 2-3 months and ended up in the hospital and had a very difficult time.

My DD was on the synagis shots last winter and she still got RSV. It is just one of those personal decisions. The RSV shot formula is created based on what immunologists feel will be the primary RSV strand for the season...

Just food for thought. Hubby and I are still trying to decide if we are going to do it for our daughter again this year. She is 13 months now. If insurance will cover, we'll probably go ahead, especially since she is in daycare this year.

I am new to all of this but I wanted to add that my daughter will be 2 the first of October and she is receiving the RSV shot this season. In fact, she got it 2 days ago. I didn't even look into this year because I just assumed that she wouldn't be able to get it. Her ped took care of all of it and she just called me and said she was approved. I am so thankful!!
