DS got the synagis shot when he was a baby and a couple times when it was going around daycare, he did develop a little wheeze and a cough. We increased CPT treatments and pretty much beat it out of him. It's my understanding that RSV is made up of several different viruses and the synagis vaccines helps to prevent some of them or make the symptoms not as severe, but they can STILL get RSV.

Have they checked him as well for influenza or H1n1?

I hope your little one recovers quickly.

Katie,
I'm so sorry to hear Trevor is in the hospital! I can't offer you any help with RSV, but know we are thinking of your family. Hope he feels better soon!

Thank you! Yes, they did check him for influenza and it was negative. He was running a real high temp 104.3 so we took him to the local hospital. They checked him for RSV there with just an NP swab, they said it was negative. But when we were transported to Nemours, where our clinic is they did a nasal wash and found it was positive. He is actually doing a lot better, no fever, just still real congested. They keep suctioning his nose, its getting so much out. I told they nurse I wish I had one of those at home. I can never get anything out of his nose. Hopefully, we will be able to go home tomorrow. Trevor is getting a little home sick I think. And our 3 year old is wanting us to hurry home as well.
