sad story about dogs..

hi guys, i write in all the time and come for advice everyday..i am posting this because it has seriously put me in the dumps..i saw a news story about dogs being abused in puppy mills. these places over breed animals and sell them to pets stores. i just wanted to post this so that anyone who think about getting a pet, dog or cat should really go to the spca or shelter. these places just keep dogs in cages all day and they are only used to breed and basically have no human contact all day. i don't want to upset anyone but i just wanted to encourage you all to get the facts. maybe its because i have been in the hospital for the last 3 weeks and i miss my dogs and cats so much that this show affected me so much but it really made me sad to think that someone could treat animals this way.

Keep you chip up; I've been in several animal shelters and I've never seen one that is like that. I know that sort of thing used to be a big problem, but that's illegal now and most places have cleaned up their act.

thanks for the reply but these places certainly do still exsist.
www.stoppuppymills.org sorry, don't want to be a drag but there are so many f*d up things going on that this jsut was one thing that i really did realize. after katrina and the war and mud slids, now animals treated so poorly. no one is safe it seems.

thanks kylie- good site. its not necessary to let these animals die when shelters and pounds are so crowed with many of the same dogs. thanks for the info!
