We were told the same thing when we were trying to get Stacia diagnosed. We were told to lick her skin. When we did this as a newborn boy did she taste very salty. It was like she had been out playing sports all day. She had a lot of salt on her. Even now when she is playing outside on a hot day she will come in with salt granules on her skin. That is just the way they describe CF is by the amount of salt you have. If you have too much then your sweat test is positive. We had to actually get diagnosed by Ambry Genetic Testing. Not sure if this answers your question but I hope this helps a little.
