Sam's cold

I'm worried about Sam. He has a cold that started on Thursday. It started right after he was near my sister who was wearing heavy perfume. (I asked her not to, and she agreed, so this shouldn't be a problem in the future). I took him to the doctor on Friday, and the doctor said it was probably viral, but prescribed him antibiotics because of his young age. I have held off on giving him the antibiotics because he seemed to be getting better and he was on antibiotics not too long ago because of a "cold". I wanted to see if he could kick it himself, and it has been running clear. I don't want you to think I am a non-compliant mother, I was just worried that he would really need antibiotics one day, and they wouldn't work due to overuse. He is not congested, it is all in his head. Today (Sunday), it is thicker, white strands of mucus. I think I am going to have to give him the antibiotic. Is it unusual that he is only four months of age, and has had two "colds"? Do you think they are really colds or is this his CF causing him problems? Any advice for keeping him well and safe would be greatly appreciated.
Sorry, I'm just a worrying mom, but determined to keep him healthy.

Give him the antibiotic <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif" border="0"> With our kids just a cold moves way too easily into something much more serious. Piper was diagnosed at 4 months when a cold turned into pneumonia and a partially collapsed lung. While I understand the reasoning of not wanting to develop immunities to antibiotics, with our kids it just really isn't an option, imho.
