HI Amy
Just read your blog, sounds very exciting re Kaly and you, thanks for the latest update, Ive been checking.
I also wanted to encourage you after reading your blog re you cfrd. since my 15 yr old Sam has been diagnosed with Typw 1 and started on insulin his health has improved immensely.
In fact, our cf clinic is doing a study regarding the use of insulin in cf, seeing if it helps wieght gain and other areas even if people dont have cfrd or type 1. They're adding small amounts of insulin (Im not sure how it works), I'm guessing along with food for the people in the trial. Sam always had problems with putting weight on before he had diabetes but now we dont even follow a cf diet anymore. He hasnt had any hospitalisations or even flare ups needing antibiotics since diagnosed Type 1 (three years ago). They expected him to have more infections actually, but he hasnt.
Im not sure how it works, but I think the diabetes must have been impacting on his health before he developed type 1 (which could even be cfrd according to the info you posts recently).
So, it will be intersting to see how things go with you and Kaly once the diabetes is stabilised.
