When were you diagnosed with a hernia? I might have one myself and I go in to get it checked out this coming Wednesday the 15th. What did they do to fix it? Also I have had to do Lovenox shots the past two times I was in the hospital to prevent any more blood clots from the picc line. I would have done coumadin but we were trying for a baby and that wasn't safe at the time. But we are going to adopt now because my husband and I would rather have me healthy to take care of a baby than try to do it when I can't take all of my normal drugs. What do you do when you go in the hospital? This getting older with cf is quite the challenge don't ya think??!!

Hey there <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif" border="0">

1. I got my hernia trying to cart my HUGE vest around in 2000. They fixed it with a mesh - pretty simple surgery

2. Throwing clots from PICCs are annoying, I agree. But Lovenox is such a higher quality drug than coumadin (and I tend to cough up blood, so using Lovenox is that much more important due to a way shorter 1/2 life). I will always push for coumadin no matter what in the future, regardless of all the bruises on my hips!

I'm not quite sure I udnerstand what you're asking about what I do when I go in the hospital. Do you mean in terms of throwing clots...? or?

Ya CF isn't easy - thank God things are still pretty good for me (knock on wood). <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif" border="0">

You pretty much answered it. I have done the coumadin thing once and to stay on that "theraputic" level for me was a pain!! I'm not a cough up blood kind of person and it was pretty much pouring out of me when I would get to high on that stuff. Also peed blood, cool huh? NOT! The clinic that was monitoring me didn't believe that I was that sensitive to it and it was not fun working with them. But that lovenox for me was better except the shot part of it. I've never had an insulin shot but my husband has diabetes and the insulin needles were so much smaller I was jealous. How often to you get to visit the hospital? I go about once a year. I had a port when I was younger but that clotted off and I can't get another one because of that. So I have new veins up and down my stomach and chest area. As for my hernia thing I had gastroscisis when I was born so my scar could be giving out from almost 30 years of coughing or it could just be a tear in the scar tissue from coughing. I don't know! What does a hernia feel like?

My frequency of hospital visits varies so much. 1-2x a year the past few years, always due to hemoptysis (not because I feel gunky).

Hernia for me is inguinal, so my description of what it feels like might be different. My felt very squishy where it shouldn't have felt squishy.

One request - if you could break your paragraph up into several it would make it easier to read what you've typed. thanks
