Scar tissue in veins

I agree with Havoc.
Scar tissue is well, scar so I cant see any way of getting rid of it except possibly surgery, which would in turn create more scaring (if surgery was even an option).
Working out helped b/c its brings your veins up, Im not sure why... is it b/c the blood is circulating more often b/c you are building the muscle so the blood/oxygen source is needed in more quantities and more often hence enlarging your viens? Just b/c when you see people who work out often, especially weights, you can like follow the veins all along the arm.

There really isn't anythin you can do about scar tissue, it's what forced me to get a port when they could no longer get a picc in. As far as working out that doesn't always work either, I lifted weights and played hockey and softball and still ha horrible tiny rolling veins. If you do ivs frequently a port is something to consider. I put it off as long as I could but now I wish I would have gotten it a lot sooner, I love it.

I havent heard of a way to get rid of scar tissue in your veins. I havent had an IV or PICC in over 5 years and the nurses still can't stick it, no one can.

Definitely recommend getting a port, they are God's gift! It's like my security blanket, I was dead set against getting one at first but they had to put one in cause no one could put in a PICC or IV. I ended up LOVING it! I'm on my second one and even after tx, when they suggested taking it out, I was like "No Way!" Good thing too, cause I ended up needing it when I got rejection.

You can not get rid of scar tissue...This is why it is very important to consider a medport....eventually, after many picc lines and iv's ...your veins will scar to the point they cannot gain access... I have had cutdowns when I was born and the scaring has done perminate irreversible damage...I got a port but my veins we so damaged they barely got it in and they said if I would have waited longer I would never been able to get it and they would not have been able to do anymore picc lines
