SCARED

I have a two year old son who has been sick. When he was younger we had to keep changing his formula because he would cry when he ate. We put him on lactos free milk which did helo some. We are always in and out of the doctors office with sinus infections and he has RSV. His doctor ordered a CT scan of the sinuses last week which came back that he is completeley clogged up; even the sinuses in his cheeks. We went to and ENT today who did an x-ray of his adenoids to see if they are enlarged. He is also sending him for a sweat test tomorrow because of the chronic sinus infections as well as him having RSV.

I am really worried because he is underweight also (weighs between 21 and 24 pounds - he always loses and gains a few). A few weeks ago we were in and out of Children's Hospital because he was having diarrhea for 2 weeks. He started at night waking up coughing and then throwing up then it went to diarrhea. All of the stool samples came back fine. We figured the throwing up was his sinuses dripping. The diarrhea was classified as toddler diarrhea. Now he seems to be constipated and when he does go he looks like he is in pain.

I know I may be worring needlessly but I am SCARED. I just had a miscarriage and cannot stand the though of something being wrong with my baby.

Wow, I don't even know how to comfort you. I am so sorry for your loss.
When our daughter was dx with cf we cried, for month. We were mad, sad, scared ...every emotion possible, we had. It has been 6 mos. now, and looking back it was not the worst dx they could have told us. She went from sleeping all day with stinky enormous poops to major (how do we turn her off???) energy and normal poops. I takes time for thing to sink in. If you need help, you get help and don't be ashamed to do so. Once he is getting the tx that works for him, and starts to thrive, it won't matter that there is something wrong with him. He is yours and you love him and HE THINKS THE WORLD OF YOU!!

Its hard to deal with your little one going thru so much. Not that anyone wants their child to have CF, but at least you would have answers and be able to get him help. Let us know what happens with the sweat test and just take one day at a time!!!!!!!!!

I do understand how hard this must be for you. If it does happen to come back with a positive dx of CF, you have already found a place to come back to with questions for people who have been there. There are so many caring and supportive people on this site who will help you through the many concerns you may have. Please keep us updated.

Our daughter Ainsley is now 3 and was diagnosed 5 months ago. Waiting for the results of her tests was scary and I had almost wished that I could go back in time and not have done them so that life would stay the same.
In my situation, I felt like fear wouldn't help my child, so I harnessed that energy to find out everything I could about CF. Knowing is always better. When you know, the opportunity to take action is present, you can then move on to do everything possible to improve the health of your little boy.

Well we went for the test. I am hoping to hear by Friday but was told it may not be until next week. In the meantime, his ENT has scheduled to remove his adenoids and open his sinuses. I am really praying it is just a bad sinus infection and the RSV. I'll keep you posted and thanks for the comments.
