Thanks for the tips!! I actually take baths, I hate showers. The water hitting me in the face and ears makes me cough. It's really weird! I think I may get some of those sticky things to put over the port.. Does anyone have a link? I can't seem to find it.

It was a little squirmish for me because they have to put the lidocaine in your jugular (sp?)! </end quote></div>

Now i'm curious....Why do they have to put Lidocaine in your jugular to place a port? Do they have to do that even if you get one in your arm? Or is it only if you get it in the clavical area?

Wednesday-Sunday should be plenty of time to recover. Like others said, make sure you have some anxiety meds if you're a little squeamish (and I think you probably will be if this is your first port) and pain meds for after.

One thing to add - have loose clothing ready to wear so it doesn't rub on the incision while it's still healing. Good luck!
