scholarships

Have any of you had luck with applying for the scholarships for cystic fibrosis? Any recommendations on which ones to apply for? They are very time consuming and I really don't have much time with working part time and school full time. I am behind in my studies, went to school later in life, so I am still at the JC. I will be transferring hopefully in a year. I am hoping to get into a diagnostic medical sonographer school. Are any of you in the field or have any knowledge of it? I am not the school wiz, always been more of a workaholic.

There are tons and tons of scholarships out there to get. I have gotten probably a total of between $7,000 and $8,000 towards my college education (I am graduating in a month with a degree in anthropology and I wouldn't have been able to do it without the financial help) What I did was simple google CF scholarships and a ton will pop up. Also I would recommend not just going for CF scholarships. Look up general disability scholarships. There are plenty of generic disability scholarships out there for people with physical disabilities which CF falls under. Most of the scholarships I have applied for have been fairly simple to fill out and get. Most have asked for a small essay, a letter from my doctor or CF clinic verifying your CF diagnosis and a general application. One recommendation I would also make is keep track of the scholarships you apply for so you don't reapply for the same scholarship twice. There are so many scholarships out there for CF patients that often it is easy to get them confused with one another. Good luck, let us know how it goes!!

Thanks for the advice. Once I figure out which school I am going to, I am going to start applying like crazy. I really cant afford the school I want to go to, so I am hoping this helps. I only have a 3.0 gpa so I am hoping that is good enough to receive some scholarship money.

I wanted to bump this. I looked into all the above scholarships and I am going to apply to them. Does anyone else have any other scholarships for CF, single, low income, that they know of? I mainly want to apply to just CF scholarships and not disability scholarships since I will have a better chance with the CF scholarships. My goal is to apply for 5 this year.

If you're low income, look into a pell grant. I got a 100% through college on them. Even got about $800-1000 extra per semester for whatever.
