School Projects-why do we hate it so much?

Hello everyone!
I know all of us get irritated by the people who come on to the forum asking questions for school projects. They really should do their own research before they come to the forum asking questions- that I do agree on. BUT many times their teachers/professors require them to get a perspective from someone who has CF or a loved one of a CF patient. I feel it is my job as a mom to educate people on CF, many people are gravely misunderstood about the disease. We need to be more hospitable as a group to these visitors, it truly would be beneficial to the fight for finding a cure for CF. The more people who know about CF the more people who are going to fight for a cure!!!!! I know every case is different, but lets try to be accepting of our forum visitors who are looking for information!

Thanks,
A concerned mother to a child w/CF

Hello. You probably weren't here when all this got started, but for a long time, I'd help anybody who came on here with a school project. A majority of people are just ask and run-- They get their information, and then they leave without so much as a thank-you. I think we deserve a little more respect than that, especially when we take the time to answer questions like "what is it like to live with CF?" That's not exactly a question that can be answered in a few simple sentances. =-) Usually it';s the people with questions like that who blow us off, so it's a guilt by association type thing. People who come on demonstarting they have at least a basic knowledge about CF... and show that they really are interested, instead of just needing some information so they can get their paper written and be done with it, usually get a better response. Those are the people who come back with a thank you, and sometimes even stick around for a while.

It's true, it's not that we hate them or anything. But the graditute isn't there. I don't know how many people i have on my msn list who wanted help, so whatever, i'm just messing around on the computer anyway. But after you help them it's like ok see you later, and you never hear from them agian or anything. Don't get me wrong some do say thank you but a lot don't and after a while it does " get some people's goats"

I don't mind helping out if someone needs an interview or personal perspective, but many times they just want the facts, and there are a million and one web sites out there for that. If they need an interview they need to come out and say it.

"What is it like to have CF"

I get so tired of that question. If they would just READ, they would see how we feel through our posts.

I have said before, ignore it! You can always suggest questions that they may ask, but if they don't, then, as hard as it is to do, just ignore them....so what if they continue with many, many posts, they will eventually go away. Let's try to be nice.........PLEASE!!!!!!!!!!<img src="i/expressions/rose.gif" border="0">

Try to be nice? No, I don't think so. =-) We're not here to get trampled on; we're people, too, and they should be reminded of that fact.
