Oh how I would love to learn about that.. They are in the process of considering putting botox in my vocal chords, this way sounds better.

Yes, I am seeing Dr. Kingdom tomorrow as well. I think it is time for another sinus surgery.

I didn't make it to the education night... wanted to though.

Heading to NJ tomorrow--- all day. Speech, ENT and CF clinic. Fwww!! It is going to be along tiring day. I am hoping one of them can help me. I have horrible post nasal drip and sore throat tonight. <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-sad.gif" border="0"> Oh, this should be fun!

Update!!

No poking around my vocal cords. The speech therapist taught me some neat tricks....THAT WORK!! She said that paradoxic vocal fold motion is the same as vocal cord dysfunction...hope I understood that correctly.

I also saw Dr. Kingdom--- awesome doctor. He called me a "ole CF pro" when he was scoping my sinuses with no numbing. Looks like he will be working on my sinuses very soon.

Mamerth,

I am glad you had a positive experience with the dr and the speech therapist. Thank you for the update.

Jennifer,

I am sorry you are having such horrible problems with vcd and asthma. I hope you can get answers and the treatment you need.

Tara,

What you went through with your son sounds very frustrating! My sympathies as a parent and as as a patient. I had a day or two at NJ when everyone seemed to have decided that I had VCD and reflux and I should drop my asthma meds. But I knew I get a different sort of tightness in my chest apart from the occasional throat closing feeling. A methacholine challenge confirmed asthma and CT confirmed air-trapping and mucus plugs. But I was a bit freaked when everyone seemed to feel they'd found the right box for me but I didn't think I fit in it at all.

Melissa, we came to the conclusion that I can keep my asthma meds but to do my breathing tricks first. If the breathing tricks don't work then to do my inhaler (have the inhaler prepped in my hand while I "breath and blow". Respiratory and speech both thought it would be a good idea to do my inhaler before HTS and vesting. Maybe everyone is doing that already but I am new to asthma drugs with my CF stuff.

Do you take a long-acting bronchodilator/steriod like symbicort or advair? I used to take a lot of albuterol and get the rapid heartrate business, but since starting symbicort, I don't use it more than a couple times a month. I also will take advil instead of albuterol if I am feeling heavy chested but patient.
