Is it keeping the bacteria in check? Has he had to take other antibiotics periodically with it? Or been hospitalized? Do they continue to monitor his resistance? Thanks for all of your help.

Seems to be keeping it in check. He's always been on other abx -- keflex and zithro. And as part of his cultures, they see what he's growing and what the bugs if any are resistant to. When he cultured steno malt it was shown to be resistant to cefta, something he's never ever been on.

Hey, I've been on Septra (Bactrim) for almost a year and a half, and have not grown MRSA in my lungs in over a year. My Dr attributes this to my being on Septra all the time. It's like Azithromax, but a maintenance drug for MRSA but my MRSA was eradicated! It is possible to take this long-term with some nice perks! I've had no side effects from taking it.
