The dietician and I discussed increasing my son's enzymes. Currently, he only takes 2 Creon 20's. We talked about adding a Creon 10 as well to each meal. The resident told the dietician that he won't give us a prescription for it because he thinks we will get confused between the two enzymes and not give the right amount. I think he was in junior high when I started giving enzymes of all dosages to my daughter. It doesn't help the dietician seems as clueless. They are about to send my son home on 3 IV antibiotics for me to administer all day, but yet I can't tell a Creon 20 from a Creon 10.

Seriously

OK, I know that you are venting, but I found this so funny. Why don't they give us CF moms a bit more credit here. And not for nothing, if you gave him a little too much of the creon (three 20's) it wouldn't be the end of the world. And the fact that you dose as much meds as you do daily, I think you can handle the breakdown. URG -- some doctors don't think!!!

Oh My God! That really is too much! I have never heard of anything like that in my CF life so far. Yesterday we upped Aidan's dose too. He will be taking 6 Creon 12 and a Creon 6 with each meal. Nobody had a problem giving me two different Creons. That is absurd. I hope Jack feels better!

Sharon,

Sigh, I give my daughter 2 different ezyme dosages; they are COLOR CODED. Even maggie knows the diffference between the blue one and the red one. Can you get a script from the attending? The resident has to report to someone. you can tell him my 7 year old with CF can handle 2 different dosages so I think you are all set!
