Turns out the CF doctor that is on rotation in the hospital just came by. He is one that doesn't like to give out two different strengths. I was polite but a bit offended that he thinks I can't tell the difference between two enzymes. He also said he think Jack is getting better because of all the respiratory treatments he is getting in the hospital. HELLO! We do the same treatments at home. I actually do a better job. I don't use the one neb cup ALL day for ALL of his medications. Why do they just assume we have no idea what we are doing?

Another thought is that you could open up the capsule, and give 1/2 of the Creon 20 which would make a Creon 10(about)...I've done that as well.

Yeah - not only do the moms/dads know what we are doing, but so do the CF kids themselves AS WELL AS the siblings!!! Katy can literally sort all of her pills out into pill organizers for morning and night and so can her big sister. Sure we had a tiny learning curve (like 5 minutes) when the "suck on" dissolvable Prevacid went to a capsule, and the pink Zithro went to a white Zithro. But gee, we figured it out.

It is the medical professionals that sometimes have no idea!

Recently I got a call from the clinic about switching the last of DS' liquid suspension meds to a capsule and the medical provider is explaining that I can empty out the capsule into some food. And I'm thinking, "oh, is that how I'm supposed to administrate it to him" and then it dawn's on me that for some reason this specific individual didn't realize DS has been able to swallow pills for several years, it's just he didn't WEIGH enough until recently to switch to capsule form for this particular medication.
