shame on all of us

People who are new to this site aren't idiots. When I joined this site, there was bickering going on, too. I just avoided it, got the info I needed, and made some friends. People aren't going to get scared off by online bickering between strangers. It's annoying but it's not that big of a deal. If she's lived long enough to be a grandma, I'm sure she's (gasp!) heard bickering before and won't burst into tears. Despite the drama, this site is still a wealth of information. I have yet to see a new person not be welcomed!

PLEASE reproduce and pass your wisdom onto your children!

BTW even when i first got on here and was getting to know others, the drama sludge was creeping to my feet like the movie The Blob. As soon as I started talking to all types of people, I got the typical hen house "Yeah well such and such is such a (fill in whatever), i can't believe they are like (fill it in), and say things like (fill it in), I mean this one time for no reason they (fill it in) and then John Doe had the gall to say (fill it in". Rinse and repeat many times over, with all types of different names thrown into the blanks. I generally try to avoid stupid drama, especially when it's just gossip oriented. I'd rather let someone show their true colors to me before I pass official judgement about their character. But sometimes, the incident on the side of the road is so unusual and so "naked guy on the side of the road just wearing a rubber chicken mask and brandishing a giant sex toy" type of awe inspiring, you just gotta slow down and take a real good look.

I'm with Allie on this.

Julie - let it go. It's getting to be one of those times where so many of us just are not listening to you anymore. (getting that glazed over look) You look like you are trying to run the board. Even if it is not your intention, that is how it comes across (at least in my opinion, which mirrors Emily's).

Quote from Emily
What I had a problem with was Julie's "I own the world and I'm going to tell everyone what they should do like I'm forum monitor" attitude.

could you at least sign your name?
BTW, why are you choosing me out of the group of everyone who chooses to continue discussing this, Allie, Emily, SeanDavis, Liz (not meaning to pick on anyone, just sayin there is a group of us that seems to continue discussing this, myself included). If you are sick of listening to me, then stop reading, Luke and I clearly feel the same about this situation, he made that known yesterday, so you shouldn't be surprised to see a response or two from me on here. What I am posting is relevant to the topic at hand and has not at all been rude. If you want to start your own post about something else, do it.

Do not mind you posting about the topic Julie. Not one bit. Do not mind reading what you have to say either. Some of it I agree with too. Some of it just rubs me the wrong way. The part about telling others what they should do. That's all. That's the part I think should be let go. That's the part that seemed to get others fired up and I don't think that was your intention or anyone else's for that matter.

Other than that. Keep on posting and I'll keep on reading. I like your idea about starting new topics.

Okay folks i'm in a hijacking mood today......So new movies anyone...I recently saw "friends with money"...it was...interesting but a definite renter...don't rush to the theatre for this one. I am totally looking forward to seeing "The Davinci Code" this month anyone else? And I find myslef strangely drawn to see "Stick It" which i am a little embarressed to admit but in the sense of forum peace I'll throw it out there for everyones amusement.
<br>
Anyone else...reccomendations? Anticipated flicks? favorite movie snacks? Do you smuggle your own junk in? How much is a flick in your state we're up to like $9 here in CA....who can afford popcorn i ask you? yet what is the movie theatre experience without it? Dilemas....
<br><br>
In case anyone feels it necessary to point out I am detracting from the point let me say I know and while I would not usually do this I think this thread has been deemed pointless already by more than one person so I'm trying for harmony here <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif" border="0"> Join me....please!!!!!!!!!!!

I too am looking forward to Davinci Code, also X men 3. I love those crazy mutants. As for sneaking in junk food, um yes I do. I once snuck in a Wendy's baked potato with cheese and bacon, *sneaky sneaky* Our movies vary from 5.50 for matinee to 7.00 for night. We have a drive in where I live and I absolutely love it. It is fantastic. I also want to see Over the Hedge.

Oh yes I want to see Xmen 3 too. Does anyone else ever wonder if they have more of an affetion for uhmm Vampire/Mutant/ well super powered freaks becasue of their health? sometimes i think something appelas to me on the level that their bodies uniqueness sets them apart yet they are so like everyone else and yet they do see the world a little differently because of their circumstance. Just a thought, maybe it's just me.
<br><br>
A wendys baked potato. First of all I love those. Second, high five, thats really quite spectacular. i've snuck in Soda and candy before but a potato? Nice very nice.
<br><br>
Oh I can't believe i almost forgot .......PIRATES!!! JOHNNY DEPP!!! Can I get a second on that? ...sigh..he is captivating.....

Oh absolutely I second that. I am also interested in the new superman movie as well. I was going to say something about the mutants as well. We must think somewhat alike, ooppps oh no shouldn't go there HEHE

I'm just reading this and laughing my rear off-this is a psychologiost's dream-a bi polar flip flop of conversation! Better than primetime! Man oh man-if a stranger did walk on here-right now-they'd really think this was a looney bin.

Going back to the original post-my impression of Luke's thought was he was trying to get the focus off ourselves, and onto someone else who would visit here. The key there was "Off Ourselves"....

I really have no particular problem with anyone-and I don't care what y'all do-I'm just making an observation here-I kinda agree with Luke. I think you do need to watch how you say things. To me-you can word things in a more sensitive or respectful way without censoring yourself. You can find that balance-that's just what I think though.

I don't want to name any names here or particulars........but I ran into a patient at a clinic (with cf) and they were going through a rough time-so I suggested they visit the site. They said they had for a few hours, and got right outta there cause they didn't feel it was warm enough. They felt it would increase their upset instead of helping them. This was really a nice person-looking for some help-I couldn't help feel bad for him/her. I also met a cf professional that told me of a couple of patients that had bad experiences here.

I have no clue who in particular it was that said whatever bothered them-so I'm not singling anyone out-I guess I'm just trying to point out the flip side. Maybe half of these "incidents" are total crap, or pity, whatever-I don't know. But if there's any truth to them-I think that's really sad.

I don't think it's anyone's "fault". And people have a right to say whatever they want-but that doesn't always make what they say right. That's all I think.

Have a good day Y'all-and do something happy and cooky in memory of Allie's Ry!

Guys please respect Amy's thread. She clearly felt it was important to her for her to start a thread based on my sig, and here you unscrupulous rude people go starting to talk about upcoming movies!?!?! OMFG!!! HAVE YOU EVIL DOERS HAVE NO SHAME!?!?!

oops forgot what thread I was in. Scratch that part about Amy's thread and my sig. But the part about you guys having no shame and being evil doers still stands, except this time, it's in Luke's thread, ironically, about shame.

As a parent of a cfer, I checked out this site and some others when our son was first diagnosed. Originally I just skimmed over the info in the Adult area, as I didn't believe it pertained to our situation; however, some of the posts on medications, travelling do...

Sometimes I think that people who are new to computers, new to posting on chat or forums, bbs, etc. don't know the rules -- example would be the all caps (SHOUTING). Sometimes people sign on for the first time and start asking questions about their small children and babies on the adult section. Maybe they don't know/realize there's a more appropriate section -- family or maybe they've asked in the family forum and haven't gotten a response.

BTW, last movie I saw was curious george and the theater smelled like 3,000 dirty diapers. Liza

I recently started coming on this site looking ofr answers about cf because my niece was just diagnosed... Ihave learned alot so thank you for the help...but what I noticed was yesterday and today everyone is talking about what happened with charlotte...it reminds me of when I was a kid and talked in chat room with my friends all the bickering ...I thought this was for support....I understand that everyone is going through different things in there life but if you go back and think when you just found out you have cf...you had tons of ?'s and more how would you feel if you came on here and everyone was fighting because of a question you askedand personally I dont remember her asking about any end result which everyone seems to talking about I remember her asking if everyone progresses the same not if some how her child would be different and not pass eventually(hopefully we will have a cure by then) but just if everyone's progression was the same. noone needed to start saying no, but it all ends up the same, you are all adults...dont you think she already knew that...she just wanted to know how some of you have progresses you know real stories real people this is what this is about right?

nikkig-

I understand what you mean. That's all I wanted to say-I think some just got caught up in bickering for their own reasons, which some were legitimate, and also some get caught up in just trying to prove their own points.

I see both sides-and I see exactly what you mean.
