He is almost 2 and barely weighs 20 lbs, he is below the 3rd percentile in wieght. He has alot of constipation and then it will almost be too soft comparable to diarreah.. HE runs alot of low grade fevers and always has a stuffy nose. he also wheezes alot so much that they already say that he has reactive airway diesease. anyway I just wanted to know . he has been tested and now we are just waiting. I am trying to prepare myself. I dont think I have ever been so scared:

I know this will sound weird, but does he taste salty if you kiss his forehead? That was the original CF "test" many years ago? CF kids run very high salt content and lose more salt than healthy kids. I know it's hard to wait, but try to be optimistic. ;o)

He has always had very salty skin so yes he does. Always seems to be sweaty smelling and tasting. It is so hard especially when the doctors are so sure and after doing research I am too. I just want to know so we can take the next step. Thank you for replying

I would encourage you to visit the CF foundation's web site at www.cff.org they have SO much great information. I know it's hard but hang in there. CF is not a death sentence and if the tests are positive and your son starts treatment he will feel so much better.

Yeah, that's the main trademark of us cfers. =-) I remember reading an article or something like that. A long time ago in Germany, they said, if your baby tastes salty when you kiss it, it won't live long. Not the exact words, of course, but you get the idea. Anyway, the article said that may have been 'cause of CF.

Im STILL salty..my friends horsey things im a damn salt lick lol...Jarod is that true though? that if your baby tasted salty it wouldnt live too long? <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-sad.gif" border="0">

Strawberry...
That was written a long time ago, before treatments and meds for CF have gotten as good as they are. I believe it was also written before they really knew what CF was.

my son is saltier than his siblings but does he have to be salty all the time or is it just when he is hot. He always has a little tinge on his brow but when he has been sweating it almost burns your eyes. but it is not constantly like that. does that mean that he doesnt have cf or does it not have to be like that all the time.
