I do not have CF (see my signature) but I went to school to become a medical assistant and in your best interest I would not pursue becoming a medical assistant to work the front desk and have direct contact with sick patients for example an internist office. You could pursue billing (back office), etc.

Hi Bob,

I went to school to be a nurse and I don't regret it one bit. After nusing school I never actually became a nurse (didn't like the work) and I got into things like medical transcription and medical assisting. I was a medical assistant for awhile in a doctor's office and then I started working in the back office in billing. So there are lots of opportunities out there in the medical field. I work in a nephrology office, so I rarely come across patients who are sick and can give things to me. I think that type of office would be ok to work in, as long as the patient's are fairly healthy.

Good luck!

Hey Bob,
I say go for it. I worked as an ER nurse for years. If you are concerned about getting infections from patients you can always work in an office or specialty that treats "healthier" patients like nephrology, endocronology, orthopedics, etc. There are lots of options out there.
