Shoulder problems

Hi Everyone,

I am wondering if anyone else has had shoulder problems. I have had issues with my shoulder for about 6 months and I am having some surgery next month to hopefully relieve some of the pain. My question for you is what do I do about my vest? It hurts so much to do it now that I open the shoulder on theledt side so that it does not shake me so much on that side. That helps with the shoulder pain, but not so much with the therapy on the upper left side. I am totally at a loss.

Ive got a torn rotater cup, I would go a see a dr if it is bothering you that much. It's a very painful injury. If you can use an acapella until you can use a vest again.

Hi Rosie,
Sorry you are having so much pain in your shoulder & I hope the surgery gives you much relief !
I was gonna say to leave the side w/ the pain un-done & maybe you could get someone to do a little cpt in that area if it doesn't also cause you so much pain..
Take care & let us know how the surgery goes..   <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif" border="0">  joni

Did the surgery help? What did they diagnose with your shoulder pain? My husband has a lot of shoulder pain and they said it was frozen shoulder. The vest definitely made it worse and he has/had winging of the scapula.

This is the 2nd or 3rd time over the yrs. I've had was is called a frozen shoulder. I can't lift my left arm with out extreme pain. I take Aleive and do some stretching it has lasted up too 2 weeks just had it for 4 days now feeling ok. Went to orthopedic he recommended steroids, I did not want to take them with all the other stuff I use. Pat-Cf/59

My godmother had frozen shoulder but got rid of it by supplementing with estrogen. She was scheduled for surgery but avoided it this way. It is apparently a common occurrence for menopausal women as estrogen dwindles. There are, however, serious side effects to taking estrogen, such as increased risk of cancer. Talk to a smart GP or naturopath about it. Google menopausal frozen shoulder for more info.

Diet can also have a lot to do with it (as it does with everything). Reducing inflammatory foods such as sugars, refined flours, junk food, vegetable oils, and all grains may help. A bad diet can also disregulate hormones. A friend of mine got rid of her frozen shoulder by going on the Paleo diet, which is essentially an anti-inflammatory diet.

I wonder if shoulder problems are a CF issue?

I have had weekly PT on my hands and shoulders for years, my shoulders going back nearly twenty years now. Both shoulders have frozen from injuries, each one time. Both shoulders had arthroscopic surgery and mobilization. If I miss a couple weeks of PT, my shoulders begin to stiffen in spite of doing exercises at home.
