Side Effect from Sinus Surgery??

Ever since my sinus surgery Feb 1 I've noticed two things.

1. My mouth is incredibly dry. No saliva. Whether I drink water, chew gum or SF candy - it's like cotton is in my mouth. It's hard to swallow any food.

2. I can't seem to taste anything. It's like my taste buds are dried up and dead.

This was my 3rd sinus surgery, but it's the first I've had this problem. I wondered at first if it's from the anethesia, but now I wonder if it's from the surgery and when is it going to end? It's been 1 wk now.

Has anyone else had this happen?

I've heard about this! It was one of the reasons I was hesitant to have my first surgery in December 2006. I've heard you can lose your sense of taste from having the sinus surgery. I've never known anyone that had it happen though. I HOPE it's temporary!

I don't have a clue, but I'm sorry you are having side effects. Have you asked your doctor about it? I was going to pm you and see how you were recovering, but I'm a day late and a dollar short again... <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-confused.gif" border="0">

I see the dr. next Friday and will ask about it then if it's still present. I just wondered if anyone else had had this happen.
