What do you all do for health insurance? If you don't work full time and don't get benefits through them then how do you get things covered? Do you rely soley on state and federal aid?

Thanks!

I am on disability and have Medicade. They cover pretty much everything, but sometimes it takes a good argument from my Dr. with them . I get the standard amount in disability so i still work a part time job to make ends meet ( i get paid cash ) . I would still work even if they gave me more than enough money to survive on ,because i would go nuts without something to do that gets me out of the house.

you have to wait 2 years though before you can get medicade right? I mean be on disability for 2 years before the federal government will cover you? What did you do in the meantime?

I'm trying to figure out what to do when I go part time in a few months

Come to think of it, i had already been on medicade for years before i even got approved for disability. In my State you can apply for welfare, food stamps, and medical assistance all in one shot. You can also apply for just one of them if thats all you need. I had to apply for all 3 since i was living on my own with a roommate and didnt work full time.. But i know a few people who were approved for disability and got medicade or medicare automatically along with it with no waiting period. Now Medicare is a different story. They wont even give me that because of some red tape type of deal , that i cant exactly remember. Luckily there was no waiting period or time lapsed in between without medical insurance for me.
