Sinus/Nasal Washes

I'm looking for other recipes for sinus washes, preferably something a little more effective than what we're doing. We mix a liter of filtered water with 2 tsp pickling salt and 1 tsp pure baking soda. It works ok but seems a little less effective now than when we started. I've heard of adding xylitol to the mixture. Does anyone do that? Does it work better? I've also heard of adding an antibiotic to it. Just looking for different rinses to see which one is best. Thanks! Has anyone tried this: <a target=new class=ftalternatingbarlinklarge href="http://www.nasopure.com/

I have a child with CF and as such I found out about nasopure. I had been having many probs with my sinuses. I had a sinus op which helped somewhat (they found I had psuedomonas in my sinuses) and when I read about nasopure I thought I would give it a go. I used it regularly, then I began having trouble with my ears. I was having trouble hearing and my eyes were filling up with the same thick gunk in my sinuses. The ENT believes that by washing with nasopure I could have helped the psuedomonas travel to my ears and I know have recurring ear infections which affects me much more than the sinuses. I have grommets in and need cipro every few weeks. I am sorry I ever tried it.

Well i do a sinus rinse EVERY morning and I LOVE IT!!! (i don't love it like i love shopping, but what i mean is that it helps!). I put the solution in a Water Pik, that is designed for teeth/mouth care.

I buy a gallon of Distilled Water, and mix 4 tablespoons of pickling salt, and 4 teaspoons of baking soda. (as per Dr.'s instructions).

I have had 2 sinus surgeries, and began doing this after the 2nd surgery. It has helped so much! No more sinus headaches, hardly any post-nasal drip.....its great!!!
