Sinus question

I have never gotten a report from my ENT saying anything about sinus deterioration so I find it interesting to read your post! I have had 3 or 4 sinus surgeries, but only had polyps removed on the first one. Thankfully they have never grown back. My issue seems to be the sinuses getting filled with infection which then infects my lungs.
My CF doc did tell me about one person who had sinus reconstruction and nothing improved for her. I'm not sure what her circumstances were though so I'm not trying to scare you!!

Jonathon--How did you get rid of the daily headaches? My 6 year old struggles with them everyday.

Yeah, it seems that my sinuses have been infecting my lungs as well. I think I would only do sinus reconstruction only if it will improve my breathing (from my nose). I want the infection and the junk (and polyps removed obviously). It is not like my sinuses are going to come crashing down one of these days. The only thing that concerns me is that my glasses don't fit on my nose anymore.... so very puffy.

CF makes our insides look like icky anyway... what else would I expect for my sinuses.

MN- I had 2 pretty extensive sinus surgeries (Partial ethmoidectomy, turbinate reduction, bilateral frontal sinusotomy and frontal balloon sinuplasty. The balloon sinuplasty really helped open things up) followed by a month of IV abx and gentamycin nasal flushes. I continue to do saline flushes as often as is practical.

For my tune up a few years ago I had a CT scan done and the CF doc and the guy who read it argued over them. He said that I had scaring from previous surgeries, so she told him I had never had any sinus surgeries...he said I had and was lyinging b/c there was no way possible for me to have the amount of scarring without several sinus surgeries.

My CF doctor and I still laugh about that. I have a lot of sinus issues, including once a month at least (here lately) I have a nose blled...down the back of my throat and end up with what the doctor calls "bloody sinus plugs"...

I have moderately bad sinuses. Manageable but not great. I have recently been having more headaches again and thought it was time to see the ENT. I went to a new clinic and the doc was full of knowledge including telling me of a ENT here in Aus who is completely removing cf patients sinuses with some good results. The ENT was in two minds about it and was waiting for some longer term results. While he did not recomend it for me he did suggest I had a look at some futher info online for interests sake. I will have to find the Dr who was doing this surgeries name- he was based in Adelaide, Australia and get back to you but my point is if people can survive with this kind of sinus obliteration and do well maybe you could look into whether reconstructive surgery is truly necessary? Just a thought not sure if it is relevent to you!
