Sinus Surgery questions...

my first sinus surgery (i've had 7) was fine.. ask your doctor is he leaves in packing or not after the surgery. i really prefer not to have packing if at all possible. Especially with your first one, i doubt he'll need to pack. thats my only complaint...otherwise, like what everyone else has said..no biggie! number one piece of advice: use a nedi pot or neilmed with salt water... it helps get the crusts out so well.. and its gross, but youll be tempted- dont pick! hahah, goodluck!

I second what Kate said... sinus rinses are a must. I've had 3 surgeries and while I did the rinses for a few weeks after, I failed to actually do them consistently after that. One thing that helped me make it a habit every day was doing it in the shower. Much easier clean up!

I haven't had it but my daughter had it this winter (she was 4.5 at the time) and said she felt much better afterwards, she could breathe through her nose and smell, very excited about that! She took ibuprophen for a week but she also had her adenoids out so that may be why. I would tell your DR you don't want the packing and do the neilmed rinses at least twice a day for at least a few weeks afterwards.
