sinus surgery

If your doctor thinks the surgery is necessary then I would go for it. I had my second recently almost 25 years after my first. My sinuses are much better and in turn my lungs thank me.

Definitely do nasal saline going forward. I use 7% hypertonic in a nasal saline mist bottle. Figure if 7% works on the lungs then why not on the nose? I tilt my head back and squirt a stream into each nostril, hold for a second till it runs to the back of the sinuses, and then blow my nose. Also, I'm on Flonase.

Good luck!

I didn't have it done till I was 22 years old. When I got CTscans I was completely blocked up, I don't know why they'd recommend surgery if you're open.
I think infections are always going to be present, and if there's drainage it'll pass to your lungs somehow.

I use the Neilmed sinus rinse, got a nice chunk out today. <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif" border="0">

Kendra,
Makailyn had sinus surgery almost 2yrs ago,at age 5.Her sinus problems were so bad ,she couldn't smell, her eyes were black and blue, she would cough and rumble so loud at night because the drainge going down the back of her throat.

The main reason they did the surgery was because her CTscan showed polyps, complete blockage. They also removed her adnoids at the same time, and a tune up, and removed something in her sinus cavity that is suppose to help with the mucous problems.
6months after the surgery she has on one side complete blockage, but from mucous only, not polyps. He said there is no need to do another surgery for mucous because the mucous comes right back,,, and you just keep treating the infections....I don't know for sure what all to do is the right thing,, because she has been very sick this pass year...
Hope this helped a little..
