Sinuses

Thank you all so much! I love coming on here and not feeling so alone. Marty had a CT in February and I am not sure if they did the sinuses. Every clinic visit there is always something going on in that department though so I am surprised they haven't suggested anything. It has been such a crazy road so far and I think stuff like this has been getting pushed aside. I am not sure if it is bothering him or not. The poor kid probably doesn't even know any better. We do the bulb syringe with saline and I also get a ton of junk out.
Mag6125,thank you for your response. Marty does do all of his treatments with a mask. The only think that I think may have helped a little way the hypersal. It made it run a little when he first started using it but it doesn't anymore. I sure do hope your eval went okay!
Megan, I am so sorry you have to go through all this stuff with your son. I guess you are a sinus expert huh? I do hope he is doing well! I actually think he has a nasal polyp but am not sure. Is this something you can see when you look into the nose? The left nostril looks totally different from the right one.
Liza, Thank you so much for your response. Marty's nose doesn't run either. I almost wish it did so the junk would come out! Hope your son is doing well (and you!!).

If the polyps are big enough, you can see them. For a couple surgeries, his polyps could be seen just by looking up his nose. Aidan also has learned to live with a certain level of discomfort. But the headaches got so bad this summer that he could not go underwater or pick his head up sometimes. His frontal sinus (whicg most CF kids never develop) was all infected over his eye.

Aidan is already scheduled for his 7th sinus surgery for Dec 3rd because his sinuses just get that bad that qucikly. It certainly affects his quality of life. He spends an hour daily doing VEST and nebs, rinses every 4 hours with all his other meds yet still feels crappy alot of the time. Surgeries give him some relief. What does your son culture? Aidan has MRSA in sinuses and lungs. I would definitely ask for a sinus CT...

Kelly, when DS started pulmozyme at age 2 1/2 I was stunned/amazed to see his nose run. Prior to that I had never ever seen that before.
